How do we connect projects with talent in our marketplace?

In our last blog post we mentioned the soft launch of the website for our new highly curated marketplace to help connect projects with talent and the reason we were doing it. Now we would like to share how it works, and please keep in mind that nothing is set on stone so we might make changes as we go. In the end the goal is to match projects with the best talent out there.

Developers and Designers group by OnTechies

The way the OnTechies marketplace works is somewhat simple, it consists of 4 main steps described below. By the way, we are avoiding the chicken and egg problem by limiting the number of projects and talent that we accept into our marketplace. The network that we have been able to create from this blog and our LinkedIn groups (OnTechies, HispanicIT) is helping us get our first batch of projects and a great first group of developers and designers to work on them.

This marketplace is highly curated as we only accept projects and professionals that we can match with each other. We differentiate ourselves from our competitors by being very selective with both the projects and the professionals who work on them, it is about quality not quantity and about getting things done the right way. Most of our competitors focus on a “global” network and on the “large number” of projects and professionals available in their sites – not about doing the right match.

  1. Tell us what your project is

Submitting a new project to our marketplace takes approximately 2 minutes. This is where we ask who you are, what do you need help with, your budget, and some details about the project itself.

  2. The match

After you submit your project and it gets approved, a payment of $50 needs to be made to us before we can share your project with the professionals registered with us. This payment is fully refundable if we are not able to find a match or if you decide to cancel altogether before the project starts. After this, the submitted project is sent to all professionals that match the project needed skills and then we introduce you to them. The match is done.

  3. Project Starts!

After the match, we ask you to pay the full budgeted amount to us, we keep it secure until the project is done. This allows us to protect you and the professionals in our network. The project funds are only transferred to the professional upon completion and acceptance of the work done. All funds are secure until project completion, this is the OnTechies Guarantee. A 15% fee is deducted from the total project fee, this is the OnTechies fee for using our marketplace.
Note: At this moment, we only accept projects under a fixed-priced contract, in the future we might allow for hourly contracts but this is not in our plans for now.

  4. Project is complete!

At this point we just ask both the project submitter and the professional that worked on it for some feedback about the project and each other. We do this to make sure we maintain the high quality of projects submitted and the work being done by professionals in our marketplace.

If you want to get an invite to be able to submit projects or be able to work on projects submitted to OnTechies, please contact us today. We’ll be sending the invite notices in a few weeks.
