Following Apple and Google, Amazon suspends hosting Parler on its servers.

Parler CEO John Matze, yesterday in a post on Parler

They will NOT win! We are the worlds last hope for free speech and free information.

What they are doing is unprecedented, unfounded and absolutely disgusting. Shameful.

This is a battle against all of us. Liberals, conservatives, atheists, Christians, black, white, etc. They want to keep their monopoly over speech. They want us fighting. They don’t want us working together. They don’t want us working with each other, they want us hating one another.

Somehow Parler has found a new home where to host their service, but I expect that this won’t last long as the number of companies denying service to Parler continues to grow, and Parler’s CEO comments and position isn’t helping his case.

Photo Sharing, It’s What People Do

I visit and use Facebook very often, at least once a day to check on updates from family members, close friends and mostly to share photos. After reading many articles about Facebook’s IPO and the future of the company I decided to really think about what makes me go back to Facebook almost every day and it is simple to answer… photo sharing. Most of my family members post photos with short captions to Facebook in a daily basis, it is interesting to see the photos they share, more so than just reading a tweet or a short update about what they are doing, etc. There is not a doubt in my mind that Facebook’s photo sharing must be one of the most important features of the site, just look at all the posts about the photo sharing service from the Facebook blog.

Accept It, Social Media Sites Are Helpful

I have been using different social media sites for a few years now. It took me a while to get into it because I considered it a big waste of time, I was wrong.

Social media sites are nothing but a way to communicate what we all have to say, to share, it can be a short message, a blog post, a picture, a new product, a rant, etc.

It is all about sharing information with people we know and people who we wouldn’t be able to reach otherwise, I love it! It is also a great way to keep up to date with the topics that are of interest to you. For example, as a software developer I follow (using Twitter) other software developers I trust and admire to see what they are up to, etc… I also follow the Twitter accounts of certain companies because I am interested in their products and services, and interestingly enough I have found it a lot easier to communicate with these companies via Twitter when I have a question, a praise or a complain.Continue reading “Accept It, Social Media Sites Are Helpful”

Job Boards vs. Social Media Sites

When it comes to finding a job, you have many options these days. Long gone are those days where you just looked at the newspaper for job opportunities. Asking your friends and family if they know someone who is hiring is still very effective, most companies prefer interviewing people referred by existing employees than people they find in online job boards and the like. Some years ago, when online job boards came out, everybody started using them. People looking for jobs, for the first time, were able to “apply” to existing job openings with the click of a button, after creating some sort of profile.Continue reading “Job Boards vs. Social Media Sites”
