Developers: Rackspace gives you $10,000 in prizes for building in their cloud

Get ready for a battle. Rackspace is kicking off the SXSW Interactive King of the Apps contest, an ongoing contest targeted towards developers and startups to build applications using the Rackspace Cloud Files API.  For more information and for contestants to submit their app, please see:  http://www.rackspace.com/kingoftheapps

After submitting your application, it will be evaluated by a panel of 5 judges made up of both tech-experts and tech-lebrities, including Stacey Higginbotham of GigaOm, Dave McClure of 500 Startups, and Eric Ries creator of the Lean Startup methodology, and Rackers Robert Scoble and Bill Boebel, who will select two finalists to compete in a live-audience Showdown @SXSW.

At SXSW, a “King” will be selected winning $5,000 in prize money and $5,000 in Rackspace Cloud hosting credit…and of course, a championship belt.  The King will also have the chance to defend their title at the next future showdown.   The winners will battle it out during the SXSW’s Lean Start-up track, taking place on Saturday, March 12, at 11 am at the Austin Convention Center.

Do you think you have what it takes? give it a try, $10,000 in prizes is not a bad way to start SXSW Interactive. Apply now.
