Facebook Austin, actively hiring and celebrating opening of new office

Facebook Austin celebrated the opening of its downtown office this past Thursday. Facebook occupies 29,236 square feet of office space on the 10th floor of the 300 West Sixth building at Sixth and Lavaca streets.

The company opened an office in Austin earlier this year, after the city offered a $200,000 in economic development incentives over 10 years if the company creates 200 jobs in the city.

Facebook Austin has more than 60 employees right now and it is actively hiring, you can check some of the various openings in their Austin jobs page.

Austin is home to their first U.S. sales and online operations office outside of Palo Alto, “We’re very excited about the future and our prospects for growth here,” said Grady Burnett , director of global sales and operations for Facebook Inc.

This is awesome! I already applied for a job in their career page, I hope I am one of the 140 people they are planning on hiring within the next year or so.

Facebook opens an office in “Silicon Hills” and it is a sales office … this was very disappointing news the first time I heard it. Why no tech jobs I wonder.

  Yes it is a little disappointing that the office in Austin is only for sales and support. However, it is a start and this definitely puts Austin in the map.
